Yolanda “Yvette” Berger

LLC, LCSW, LICSW, CAS

As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where you feel truly heard and understood. My approach is rooted in authenticity, respect for your unique experiences, and a commitment to providing a safe, judgment-free space. My role is to guide and support you as we work together to develop practical skills and insights that empower you to navigate life’s challenges.

I see therapy as a partnership—you bring the expertise of your life, and I bring therapeutic tools grounded in evidence-based research like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. Together, we can use these approaches to help you build a deeper understanding of yourself and move forward with intention and clarity.

I’m passionate about fostering meaningful growth and self-discovery for those ready to invest in themselves. If you’re seeking a therapist who values real connection and tangible results, I’d be honored to support you on this transformative journey toward your goals.

My Story

For over 35 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS), I've dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate life's complex challenges.

My journey in helping others began in the vibrant community of Miami Beach, Florida where I was raised.  After graduating from the University of Florida’s School of Education, I embarked on a teaching career focused on empowering at-risk adolescents and their families.  This experience ignited a passion for creating deeper, more transformative change in young lives and their families.

Driven by this calling, I made the pivotal decision to transition into social work, recognizing an opportunity to effect change on a more profound level.  I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Barry University, where I developed a comprehensive clinical foundation and subsequently specialized as a Certified Addiction Specialist, deepening my expertise in mental health and substance abuse treatment. This shift allowed me to leverage my educational background and teaching experience while delving into the complex dynamics of adolescent development and family systems.

Drawing from my extensive experience supporting adolescents and families, I now dedicate my practice to providing compassionate mental health therapy for adults navigating life's complex emotional landscapes.

I’m known for my strong interpersonal skills, sense of humor, and ability to connect and develop trusting, confidential, and caring relationships.  I’ve had the privilege to work in settings that include non-profits, schools, a Harvard affiliated hospital, and an overseas NATO Air Force base in Europe.

Approach to Therapy

We all need to talk to someone and to feel heard, particularly during complex times. Building a trusting relationship is at the heart of our work together, and it’s something we’ll develop gradually over time. Our sessions are a safe and confidential space where you can express yourself freely without judgment.

It may take a while to feel completely comfortable, which is perfectly normal. Remember, you are in control of what you share and we will move at a pace that feels right for you. My role is to provide a consistent, reliable presence as we work towards your goals. If at any point you have concerns or questions, I encourage you to voice them. Building trust is a collaborative process, and I am committed to creating an environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported.

Therapy isn't just about addressing problems - it's about unlocking your full potential. It's a powerful journey of self-discovery that can profoundly reshape your life across multiple dimensions.  Recognizing there is a need for change can lead to feelings of empowerment and hope for the future.  Let’s talk!
