Frequently Asked Questions
Many of us have faced moments where we've felt stuck, despite trying various self-help strategies. If you've found yourself thinking, "I've tried everything but therapy," you're not alone. It's a common sentiment, but it also presents an opportunity. Therapy offers a unique, professional perspective on your experiences and challenges.
It's not about having someone simply tell you what to do, but rather about gaining deeper insights into:
Your thought patterns and behaviors
The root causes of persistent issues
Effective, personalized coping strategies
Even if you're uncertain about the benefits, exploring therapy can be a valuable step. It provides a safe, confidential space to:
Understand your emotions more clearly
Address sources of unhappiness or stress
Develop new tools for managing life's challenges
Seeking support reflects self-awareness and resilience and demonstrates a commitment to personal well-being and growth; it is not a sign of weakness or of personal flaws. Therapy is a valuable investment in yourself and can lead to new perspectives and opportunities you may not have previously considered.
I am available for client sessions Monday through Thursday, with additional flexibility on Fridays and weekends to accommodate challenging schedules. Calls and emails will be returned within 24 hours.
The 75-minute initial intake session fee is $250 and includes a review of paperwork, basic assessments, along with a personal and family history. Together, we will establish goals and develop a treatment plan.
A standard 60-minute individual session fee is $200. A sliding scale is available for those who are eligible to receive discounted rates. All sessions are hosted in Simple Practice, a telehealth platform, on weekdays and the early evening. Phone sessions are also an option.
Individual sessions are typically not covered by insurance. While I am not in-network, I can provide a superbill including a clinical diagnosis for potential reimbursement through your insurer. If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance may cover a portion of your session costs.
As coverage varies by policy, I encourage you to contact your insurer to determine your specific benefits. A limited number of sliding scale slots are also available—please get in touch with me for more information. Alternatively, sessions may be claimed as a medical expense for an IRS tax deduction.
Your mental health information remains private and confidential and is not linked to your medical records or life insurance policy.
Private pay eliminates the need to meet insurer criteria for medical necessity, ensuring treatment decisions are not influenced or cut short by insurance limitations.
You have access to a broader range of therapists, including those not covered by insurance networks, allowing you to find the best fit for your needs.
Paying privately eliminates the risk of insurers demanding repayment for previously reimbursed services. Therapy can focus entirely on your personal growth and well-being, free from the constraints of insurance-driven treatment plans.Â
I utilize Simple Practice, a HIPAA-compliant platform with HITRUST-level encryption, to ensure the security of your protected health information (PHI). I take your privacy seriously and I am trained and certified in secure telehealth procedures.
Starting together involves several structured steps to ensure a smooth onboarding HIPAA-compliant experience. The first step is to make initial contact via email or by filling out the Contact Form. Once received, we can schedule a no-fee 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and expectations.
Upon proceeding, you will receive an email invitation from Simple Practice, my client telehealth portal, to set up a secure account. In Simple Practice, you will sign essential intake forms, including consent for treatment, practice policies, a Medical and Mental Health History Questionnaire, and some self-reported diagnostic assessments. Payment information, such as credit card for fees, is also collected.
You will then schedule your first session, receiving confirmation and instructions for accessing telehealth services. All telehealth sessions are hosted in Simple Practice, with an option of phone sessions on weekdays and in the early evening.
During the initial session, I will review the intake information, discuss goals, and establish a tailored treatment plan. This streamlined process prioritizes a secure onboarding experience and tailored services to meet your specific needs for individualized care.
